OUR VALUES

(Moving away from)

  • Avoiding actions or practices that contribute to environmental degradation or harm.

  • Moving away from strategies that prioritize immediate gains over long-term sustainability.

  • Rejecting the notion that small, individual actions don't contribute to significant positive change.

  • Minimizing unnecessary resource consumption and waste in all aspects.

  • Rejecting an attitude of indifference or apathy towards environmental issues and their impact.

  • Not to use things and then discard them as waste… yet to account for the true cost of consumption.

  • Avoiding misleading practices that create a false impression of environmental responsibility. ( Show actual data + transparency)

  • Moving away from a mindset that views sustainability as an isolated effort, emphasizing the interconnectedness of global environmental challenges.

  • Avoiding oversimplified solutions and explanations, prioritizing focus on details.

OUR VALUES

(Moving Towards)

  • Inspiring individuals to believe in a better future, where sustainability is integrated into daily life. Semper ad Meliora! Creating a replicable, scalable climate-positive city as a beacon for other communities around the world. For the future to be bright… you must be the light! “Be the change you want to see in the world.” - Mahatma Ghandi

  • Literally “To become Green”. Whatever your current “sustainability score or status” is… to become green… and pursue the path of a Virescent. To embrace changing the current culture of human “civilization” to one of human “guardianship and stewardship” in order to live nobly with nature. That is a core community value & commitment!.

  • Prioritizing the well-being of both people and the planet in all our community endeavors. Emphasis on clean air, water, food, and energy. Ensuring vitality is the natural state for all of our residents. Living not merely existing.

  • The new center for green innovation, and a hub for naturalism, biology, biomimicry, environmental efficiency, and renewable resources technology. Museums, hall of fame/history of naturalists and environmentalists that contributed to a better today and momentum to a more sustainable tomorrow. Investing in teachers, to attract and honor the best talent in the educational industry and the resources and information to educate individuals about sustainable living and environmental stewardship.

  • Essential to our mission is the positive collective impact of community commitment towards a sustainable future.

  • Striving towards sustainable practices in all aspects of our business and city concept to ensure a positive impact on the environment while creating a profitable future for all. “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” - Chief Seattle

Environmental Intelligence

(EQ): Fostering a culture of environmental efficiency through education, awareness, understanding, innovation, and responsibility in our community. Metrics and transparency of reporting metrics on environmental impact (waste, renewable energy, recycling and repurposing coefficients). Also transparency of the true cost of consumerism… not just the cost to produce, yet understanding the cost to sustainably produce (i.e. “Steak tax” to give transparency to the true cost of beef).

Environmental Presence

(EP): Mindful approach to consumption, characterized by active awareness and deliberate decision-making. This concept encourages individuals to transcend autopilot behaviors by considering the long-term environmental costs and benefits of their consumption choices. It involves being fully present and engaged with one's actions and their impact on the environment. Understanding and feeling the connection between one's actions and the broader environmental consequences requires clear thinking, an attuned sense of one’s physical and emotional responses to consumption, and a commitment to integrating this awareness into daily life.

Convenience does not imply wallowing in comfort.

How would you describe the difference between modern war and modern industry — between, say, bombing and strip mining, or between chemical warfare and chemical manufacturing? The difference seems to be only that in war the victimization of humans is directly intentional and in industry it is ‘accepted’ as a ‘trade-off’.
— Wendell Berry, farmer and author (b. 5 Aug 1934)

The climate shadow

Climate Shadow

This broader concept extends beyond individual actions to include indirect impacts on the climate through one's social and economic influence. It encompasses how individuals vote, the policies they support, where they work, how they invest, and the climate-related conversations they engage in. The climate shadow is about the ripple effects of these choices, such as influencing others and advocating for systemic changes in society and industry.

Carbon Footprint

This measure focuses on the direct emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases caused by individual actions. It typically includes factors like driving a car, flying in an airplane, energy consumption in homes, and dietary choices. The concept is often used to quantify and manage an individual's personal environmental impact.
